Child safety standards
Last Updated: October 4, 2026
Impact Idol helps nonprofits and community groups run volunteer events and keep in touch with their volunteers, including young volunteers with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) anywhere on Impact Idol, including the website, the Impact Idol app, and chat.
Your community’s policies come first
Each community on Impact Idol is run by its own organization, such as a nonprofit, school group, or volunteer chapter. That organization sets its own safeguarding and youth-protection policies for its members, events, and volunteers, and those policies apply to everything you do in that community.
The standards on this page are the minimum that apply in every community on Impact Idol. A community’s own policies can be stricter, and where they are, the stricter rules apply. No community’s policies can lower these standards.
What is not allowed
- Any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor, including images, video, text, or links.
- Grooming: trying to build trust with a minor in order to exploit or abuse them, or asking a minor to move to another app or meet in private.
- Sextortion, trafficking, or any attempt to obtain sexual content from a minor.
- Sharing, requesting, or promoting CSAM in any form.
How we protect young volunteers
- People under 18 sign up with a parent or guardian’s email, and the parent or guardian approves the account before it can be used.
- Each community’s administrators approve who can use chat in their community.
- Anyone can block another person, and blocked people cannot message them.
- Community administrators can review reported messages and suspend or remove accounts.
How to report a concern
- In the app: open the conversation or message and use Report. Reports go to your community’s administrators, who handle them under the community’s own policies, and to the Impact Idol team.
- By email: write to [email protected] with “Child safety” in the subject line. You don’t need an account to report.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services first.
What we do when we receive a report
- We review child safety reports as a priority.
- We remove CSAE content and suspend the accounts involved.
- We report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement as required by law, and we preserve the information they need.
- We cooperate with law enforcement requests that are made through proper legal process.
Compliance
Impact Idol complies with applicable child safety laws and regulations, including the requirement to report CSAM to the appropriate authorities.
